Kao Specialties Americas LLC (KSA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kao Corporation, Tokyo, Japan. Established in 1887, Kao Corporation is a global company that develops, manufactures and markets personal hygiene, laundry, food, cosmetic, and specialty chemical products. The majority of their global product lines are based on surface active or “surfactant” chemistries.

Kao’s innovative efforts are fueled by over 2,000 employees dedicated to research and development. In the field of surface chemistry, Kao’s R & D employs the frequent use of computer models which explore the function of materials at the molecular and atomic level. Other computer models are used to design, engineer and simulate chemical production processes. These process designs are then used in Kao plants throughout the world, particularly at KSA. Through constant collaboration, Kao’s Mobile Technical Transfer (MTT) teams offer KSA technical assistance with process design and facility start-ups.
